Twitter Lets You Share Anything With Anybody. It Can Also Cost You Your Job.

Thanks to social media, we can now connect to our family and friends 24 hour/365 days a year. You know where they are and what they are doing. You can also share anything on your mind with anybody.

 

Have you complained about your horrible boss on Twitter? Have you tweeted about how boring your job is? The fact is that your boss may be reading these messages.

 

Here are some tweets which actually got people fired.

  • A man got hired to work at Cisco Systems. And then got promptly fired when he sent the below message out that the company promptly discovered:

“Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work.”

 

  • A waiter got fired by tweeting about his celebrity customer, Jane Adams not paying tips.

“Tues: Jane Adams, star of HBO series “Hung” skipped out on a $13.44 check. Her agent called and payed the following day. NO TIP!!!”


  • A company that has an open policy about following it’s employees on Twitter found one of its team members tweeting this while on the job which promptly led to disciplinary action:

“You know its funny that I am at work and am praying for some sort of computer crash to take out the entire office.”
