“Hey, What’s In the Bag?”

Did you ever think that by recycling water bottles you could get the coolest tote ever? Saving the environment may not be high on your list of priorities (yet!), but there is always room for a snazzy new handbag.

In 1995, Inder Bedi, founder of Matt + Nat, discovered a great way to reduce our carbon footprint with sexy, sustainable style. The lining of every exquisite, eco-chic tote bag is made with 21 recycled water bottles. Now, I’ll drink to that!

Matt + Nat uses 100% recycled faux suede, cork and vegan leather on all of their fabulous purses, wallets and belts.  This swank design firm also offers dapper diaper bags, smart backpacks, urbane overnighters and sassy iPad tablet sleeves (yes, even iPad tablet sleeves.)  These products are so en vogue and versatile, you may forget they are sustainable…or even care! This year, Matt + Nat started cork labeling inside all of its bags. Did you know that cork is the most environmentally friendly harvesting process in the world?

As if it couldn’t get any better, with the small investment of a limited edition Ikat bag, Matt + Nat will donate $21 to charity water, a non-profit organization that provides clean and safe drinking water in developing nations. What a great feeling to know that with my purchase of a fearless exotic-print carryall, I’m doing my part to save the environment while concurrently helping to provide clean potable water to someone in the developing world. Even with my busy schedule, I can order online from my home or office. How easy is that?

Matt + Nat covers all bases for both men and women when it comes to colors and accessories. My pick? For day or night I choose the Zodiac. This bag has pockets for my PDA, cell phone and lip-gloss.

I also love the Mantra computer sleeve. This beautiful blue vegan leather laptop bag has great features and is compatible with the 13” Macbook.

When it comes to stylish and affordable eco-fashion, Matt + Nat have it (wink) “in the bag.”
